To Make the World a Better Place for Horses

Basic concept

I think Kelly Marks has added an important part to Monty's concept. She has established a network of trainers who can manage simple problems without beeing a certfied instructor.
Offering courses where people go to a place to learn is only one part of the goal. The second part is going home to the horse owners to fix a specifical problem without exposing them to all the basic knowledge. Crucial is an active participation of the owners.

Hi Rudi,
In my opinion it is only possible to get active participation of the owner, if they know the concept and are able to understand what you're doing. They must be able to see the difference and willing to change their attitude, if neccesary. As you said elsewhere, this takes a good trainer. To be able to train people, trainers must be certified, to make sure they know what they're teaching. Solving horse-problems is one thing, solving the cause is another. Most problems horses have are human-related. When the problem has a medical background it is even more important for the trainer to recognise them and advise the owner in a professional way.
A happy horse is one that trusts his owner and a happy owner is one that trusts his horse, and is willing to learn.
Basic knowledge is the beginning of being able to judge for yourself and make the change.
I don't mean to say everybody should become a certified instructor, sure there is a place for good horsetrainers. Bringing Monty's concepts to people need good instructors.

I think we have discussed the matter already with the example of a computer that does not work. When somebody fixes it for you you don't expect him to explain you the binary system. He will show you how you can manage the particular problem. Not everyone is interested or capable to learn the basics. By the way, I did not say that there is no need of good instructors...
