Hi everyone, I've just started to work with a friend and her new 2yo tabloid mare Echo. It's only going to be once a week, but we had a great result today. They got her a few weeks ago and it took 21/4 hours to load her, so as my friend knows I've had Himself loaded by Monty and have been following his methods since, she asked me to give her some help. Well I did a bit of Dually schooling with the little mare and got some good work with licking and chewing, backing up started as a Ill stand on end, but eventually we got oh ok you want me to got back. As loading was the only issue they've found we opened up the trailer, tied back the partitions and let her do her own thing for a minute or two, once she realised that I wasn't going to get mad with her I asked her to just stand at the bottom of the ramp, then back up, back to the ramp, back up. I then put her back to the ramp, rubbed her and just asked for one step, guess what she followed me. She was backed off the trailer as she wouldn't come out the front when she was brought home, but again I just asked for one step onto the front ramp and out she came. I repeated this one step process 6/7 times and every time she responded to the verbal command and came with me happily. Friend is over the moon, left her and the family to go and join us here on the uni, get a Dually and 20' lunge, so we're all on the same sheet to educate the mare without stress or violence.. Sorry it's quite a long post.
