Flooding in Holland

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed

Jan 6 (Reuters) - Dutch soldiers and police started to evacuate 800 residents on Friday from a northern area of the Netherlands where an inland dyke has started leaking and is at risk of breaking after heavy rains.
Are all are Dutch friends OK? May are you safe?

Hi Dennis,
From what I heard and read about it until now, is that there was some danger threatening, but no serious damage done so far. All precautions were taken to avoid people and animals being in danger, so evacuation was one of them. The dyke until now did stand it's ground, let's hope weather is improving.
I live in Hamburg ( Germany), 3 hours by car from the site, but being dutch of course my concern is with all people that needed to leave their homes.
May seems to live not very near it, so let's assume she's OK, hoping she'll bring us report from where she lives.
Thank you for asking, if any interesting news occurs, I'll come back to it.

Hi Dennis,

I am safe!!!! I am living in the east of Holland and in the middle. That's one and a half/two hours drive from the place where they evacuated the people.
The people who had to leave there houses, nearly all are back home. The water level is going down. The danger is gone, but there are still a lot of people in that area who are there to help, just in case.
Thank you Dennis for thinking about us here in Holland.
Thanks Miriam for your explanation.
Thanks Nelliebell for your sympathy.
Cheers everyone, May
