Quality of pasture

My daughter had an interesting discussion today in her horse barn. She wants to have her horse on the pasture as much as possible, some of the other owners are worried about the quality of the pasture that could be destroyed. Personally I think that the well-being of the horse is more important. The quality of the pasture must be preserved by measures of organization. What is your opinion?

Hello!

As long as the pasture isn't over grazed and the manure is picked up regularily, there shouldn't be a problem. My horses are on pasture 24/7 as nature intended, but I have 100acres that they can roam around on.

my horses are on pasture 24/7. there only on 2 acres. but they love it that how nature intended. as long as the grass is not to green and to long. I have in the past had a horses that had a history of foundering. but that was only in the winter and she was also 19 when it first happened. but they love it out in pasture. its good for them the green grass.

I'm all for 24/7 as long as the climate allows it - or they have shelter and enough food.
But the field does need some management; maybe two fields to alter between. The bigger the pasture, the chances of it being ruined is a lot less.

Thank you for your comments. My daughter will have a meeting with the other owners in a few days to find a solution.
