Welcome British and Europeans!

Hello!

Hi
I've just been on tour with Monty from Scotland (Gleneagles) right down to Devon. I run Monty courses in Oxfordshire, England together with Monty Instructor, Ian Vandenberghe and we have many students from Britain, Republic of Ireland, Europe and in fact, even as far afield as South Africa and Australia!
Just wondering how many of our former students are on here plus if anyone has any questions about our UK based courses - ask away!
All the best

Hello!

Hi Kelly
I am using my free trial that you were giving away on your recent tour with Monty.

I am hoping to join one of your courses next year. I sent my pony to Hartsop Farm for starting in the summer and when I visited I spoke to some of the students and it seemed that everyone was having a great time and learning loads. It was such a friendly place and Matrix - alias 'Digger'
came back to me a happy well behaved pony.

Hope to meet you next year.

Regards
Mandy

Hello!

Hi You Guys!
Well done for getting on here - there is so much you can learn here - even when you've done the courses you can't possibly remember it all - and there's always more to learn so I think this is a great place to remind yourself about things and keep inspired.
I'm at Your Horse Live this weekend and then off to a massive 'Equitana' in Melbourne, Australia - all very exciting - though must admit, already I'm thinking I'll be so looking forward to seeing my own horses as soon as I get back!
All the best
Kelly xx

Hello!

Hi Kelly,

I was at the Demo in Gleneagles last month, amazing - very inspiring. I'm hoping to make it down to do some of your courses next year. Would love to bring my youngster with me but the distance will probably prevent this, I'm in Aberdeenshire and she's probably too young anyway. Using the dually working with her just now and her nose was virtually glued to my elbow at the end of today's session - brilliant!!

Hello!

Hi Kelly
I met you at Oakhampton few years ago. We have the rescue horses in Costa Rica. Yours and Monty's methods continue to help all the horses. I was there again this year and loved watching you start that lovely youngster! Have fun in Oz.

I have just been today working with the standing still element of this website. Fantastic results. Thing naughty little pony with lots of attitude and the attention span of a nat! Hiya, I went to the Okehampton demo in Oct, and am also using my free trial of this uni - love it - wish I could afford to do everything, the training, keep doing this uni and anything else that is possible too! I am currently doing a foundation degree course and will hope to do some work experience in this area of horsemanship. Have had some success working with a friends Exmoor ponies which has been a real eye opener for us both. My 9yr old daughter will also be using her free trial soon - she's as keen as I am!

Hi, I'm also here on free trial, it's fab!
My pony is a lot happier and so am I from using Monty's and your methods and ways of doing things. I always try to soak up as many different techniques as I can, and Monty's online university is fantastic!
I would love to go on a course and bring Norman (my pony incase you're wondering!) along to in a few years as I'm not 18 yet and have a bit of saving to do first!

Hello!

Hi
Sorry for my long time away! Australia was fantastic. I'm on facebook (Kelly Marks and Intelligent Horsemanship) if you want to check in regularly. Pie and I are off to Olympia on Wednesday night - we are working with the War Horse puppet - Joey - very exciting!

Bonniesmum
Hello!

Hi Kelly

I'm using my free trial here to and am hoping to continue to subscribe afterwards as well. I was thrilled to meet you last week when I brought my pony Bonnie to be used on the leading and loading course. I am also hoping to do the 5 day course at Hartsop next year but it depends on getting the credit cards paid off etc first. I want to do everything I can to be a better horsewoman not only to make my own pony bombproof, well trained, safe and happy, but also to help any other horse I come into contact with throughout my life. When I first discovered you and Monty it was like 'Yes! THIS is exactly how I want to do it. I'm not going mad!!' My background with horses was not one of violence but it was one that distinctly lacked the psychology and understanding of the horse. I also signed up one of my best friends to IH for Christmas and have encouraged her to use her free trial here too :-)

Hi Kelly,
I recently completed the 11 day course in June/July for overseas students with you and the team at Hartsop and other venues.
Since then I have been working with several horses belonging to friends and thoroughly enjoying developing my skills and showing others what I have learnt.
The on-line Uni is vital for me as I am now in Singapore with my partner and our horses and connections many miles away!
I am meeting a race horse trainer next week to see if I can work with him and his team. My plan is also to do my psychology project, show them what I have learnt with you and gain more experience of the racing world.
So watch this space!
Thanks again for a brilliant time in the summer and good luck in all your adventures..
Oh and by the way say Hi to Sharon..
Amanda xx (Andalucia and Singapore!)

Hello!

Hi Bonniesmum and Suza (by coincidence both Amandas!)
Lovely to hear from you both. Suza I've worked in Singapore - I found the racing side distressing because it's 'normal' to have tubes up nose and injecting most days - you've got some pretty tense horses there and it would be great to find a way to make their lives a little easier.

We've been having fun here working with the War Horse production. My new boy, Banksy, was extremely well behaved considering he was going in front of a 7,000 crowd and meeting a giant horse shaped puppet for the first time!

That's my niece, Daisy, on this side and Rosie Jones RA on the other. The War Horse people said the last horse they tried to introduce Joey the War Horse too wouldn't go within a 100 yards! Bansky was a great advert for the Dually. We watched a lot of dressage horses getting jabbed in the mouth while they were running up for their vet checks.

Hi Again Kelly!

Well how right your were..the horses at the Turf Club in Singapore were some of the most stunning horses I have ever seen.. but boy many were very stressed or injured. Jabbing in the mouth is the norm even when being walked out by two handlers (or is that hangers on!?)

I was lucky to be looked after by David Hill and his daughter Sam (who originated in UK)who guided me to the more trusted trainers. David and Sam both recognise the horses needs and we got talking about what happens to them when they are no longer fast enough or broken down.

I met with Eric and Philip (from Equine Sanctuary, spelling yard on site).Philip (he was a starter) remembers you from a demo where he bought a dually and one of your books! We then got talking about horses and starting gates. Both these local guys know that much could be improved for the horses that are based at the Turf Club.

Sadly my partners (Andy's) work has come to an end (the company could do with a MR corporate demo!).

But I like to think a seed has been planted...

Meanwhile as the universe would have it a job at Moorcroft, Slinfold, West Sussex (rehab/retraining for retired race horses)came up and I have applied for it.

The door in Singapore is still open and I feel the ROR approach would help many horses over there as the alternative is grim.

Will keep you posted..have put my name down to help at Clevedon...see you there..

I am off to look at Banksy and crew on facebook!

Warm wishes,

Amanda

Hello!

Good Luck with the Moorcroft job Amanda. If I can help you contact me directly. Meanwhile if you're in that area do pay a visit to Jim Goddard RA he's such a good, helpful guy.

Hi Kelly

Yes I'm a former student of yours and am now working my way through the lessons on Monty's uni. I did all the courses towards the Stage 1 back in 2008/9. My next step was the psychology project but life took a different turn and it had to be put on hold but I'm hoping to pick it up again this year. I thoroughly enjoyed all the courses and learnt such alot even though I've worked with horses and owned horses for 40+ years. My partner Steve is booked onto the June 5 day course this year. I'm so excited for him and wish I was going along too, but some-one has to stay home and look after the horses:o) Hopefully, I'll be able to come back as a helper to refresh what I learned when I did the 5 day course. Been to several Monty demos and your masterclass too. Hope to see you, Ian, Rosie, Sandra etc again before too long.

Hi Kelly
I came on an IH course in '99(?) before starting my horse -who's now coming up to 15. Learned SO much from IH, the books, demos and the Uni! Now using all that with the youngsters (and the oldies) and it's so much fun - they line up in the arena to have their turn!

Hello!

Hi Kelly,
Elaine here, Stage II student. You posted your question over 3 years ago, but I know your own work and your work with Monty is ever-growing and I bet your students come from even more countries now. Proof if ever it was needed that it's the way to have happy horses and owners!
Keep up the fantastic work and see you again soon. E!x

Hello!

Hi Kelly,

I am a former student of yours too. I was wondering, can we hope to see some contributions in the Equus Online Uni from you, as I know we would all LOVE to see you in here. Especially if you did some loading (which I know Monty has been saving for you - hint hint...) as so many ladies and chaps appreciate your own unique take on Monty's loading methods. You know, for folk who aren't as burly as Monty, you have some very cool techniques.

I am hoping that everyone else in here will support me when I say "KELLY PLEASE COME AND TEACH US INTERNATIONAL BOYS AND GIRLS IN HERE!". England is a long way away!

Hugs,

Austen

Sweden isn't quite as far away, but I would love this as well. Will it help if I say "please, pretty please, with a cherry on top"? ;)

Hello!

Kicki you know how to ask in a way that Austen Atkinson just doesn't (: and I was (double name dropping here) working with Monty on the HM Queen's horses today including going over tarpaulin and I just love working with these babies and finding just the right way/time to 'ask'.
I will whizz something off to Austen asap meanwhile you may find this interesting ...

THANK YOU!!! So looking forward to that.
Meanwhile I will amuse myself at the Facebook-link. (Guess I have to give in and get an account...)
Loved to see that Martin Clunes is involved. Didn't know he had horses. Love him as an actor, and just saw another great show (documentary) with him: "A man and his dogs" I think it was called.
