About This Week’s Lesson

What if it happens anyway?

What a wonderful lesson, Kadina!
A few times during the lake-and-stream-procedure, Kadina tries to escape and Monty manages to keep her from doing so: "No,no no,that's not going to happen". What if you can't hold the horse? Do you go back to Join-up, this meaning that you have to remove the "lake",or at least fold it so it doesn't occupy that much space?
I will watch this lesson over and over, it touches the very heart of me!

Hey Miriam I see no reply came to your query ..I would have enough coiled rope so that I can give rope if necessary and still have a hold .Working in a round pen you can do that as horse cannot get too far away.Being a small woman I too have this thought and have to prepare for every eventuality and stay safe.Plus, leaning your hip on the rope has a lot of strength instead of wrist or arm.Rope handling skills are a good thing to develop.

Hi rachel,
Thank you for coming back to this question! It's over a year old, I'd forgotten about it, but rereading it still find value in it. I think my main concern was the dictation by the horse and my being a small woman too. Safety and ropehandling skills seem to be the most important.
Thanks,
Miriam
