Cavallo Saddle Pad

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed 200 lessons completed

Hi everybody!
So i recently got an 'All Purpose English Saddle Pad' from Cavallo, which i'm really excited about, and i just used it for the first time today! Though i didnt see too much of a difference in the horse i was riding from the first time using it, it's really nice and i'm happy to have something that i know is good for the horse! :)
Do any of you have Cavallo saddle pads of your own? What do you think of them? Any stories you have to share? :)

I am waiting to get mine - but not available now in Canada. The pad has an asterik beside it which means it is out of stock. My saddle has "sins" as monty or the saddle tech guy said - so I am hoping to get that saddle pad soon. My horse seems a little ouchy in the back - and I have been told by a master saddle fitter that reflocking is not the end all solution. Once you start reflocking a saddle, it must be done routinely. So I am pegging my hopes on this saddle pad, or trying to find a new saddle with the saddletech gauge.

I have one, but have never really had any use for it. Or, more to the point, been able to use it.
My older horse is built in such a way that most saddles will move forward onto her shoulders (and I can't afford a specially designed one) so this was meant to help with that. However, once i got it and tried it on, it turned out that the saddle was not wide enough to accommodate for it. :(
.
So that is certainly something to consider before you buy any (expensive)pad to put under your saddle! Does it fit?

I have recently purchased a Cavallo Full Monty saddle Pad for Toppa and believe it has made a tremendous difference
to his willingness to move more freely into a canter & maintain it over a longer distance without so much prompting
required.Have also replaced iron shoes with Cavallo Sport
Boots which he is very comfortable in

Hi EvyG: i hope it works well for you! i think in your case it'll be great and will really help out! Kicki: yes mine fits :) it really sucks that yours doesn't :/ they're quite expensive, so it must have really been a disappointment when you found out it didn't fit!
ivan: nice to hear that it's made such a big difference for you :) i hope it does for me too, even though i will be using it on many different horses (with the same saddle though)! how do the boots work to replace the shoes exactly?

I know Monty endorses the Cavallo line of saddle pads, but how do they compare to the Professional Choice SMX Air ride pads?

Hi LindaR the Boots protect the hoof from Abrasion and chipping on rough or stoney sufaces and allow the hoof to expand & contract as it was designed to by nature. Thus increasing good blood flow and keeping the hoof healthy.
The hoof needs to be trimmed for bare foot.I only fit the boots each time I ride which means they should last a very long time compared to Metal Shoes.

@LindaR: Yes, it was a huge disappointment. But I have found a saddle that does work now, with a Formiga numnah and a French girth. So that part has turned out alright. (The Cavallo pad is for sale!)

ivan: thanks for explaining, they sound really good! which isnt a big surprise seeing as how good the cavallo saddle pads are, so their other products are likely to be good too.
Kicki: that's good to hear! i hope your pad sells quickly, it really is a shame it didnt work out for you :/

I have Western and Endurance saddle pads. Last year before I found these saddle pad I had normal one's that you get from the saddle shop. My daugher and I ride Trek up to 6 hrs on saturday and sunday 4 hours after One season with the the normal pads both horses started to develop white hair where the saddles sit. This when I found Monty site and started learning. This season no white hairs and I have Cavallo saddle pads. Also got the saddles check out they are both fine.
