Dually halter size advice

Hello!
Hi all,
I am saving up to buy a dually halter but would appreciate some advice on the sizing.
I am hoping to use it for two horses, one a 16.1h warmblood, the other a 17h TB.  I expect the large blue halter would be correct for the TB, but will it be too big for the warmblood? It would be nice to not have to save up for two.  Both horses are in full size halters.
Thanks,

Miriam (Holland&Germany)

Hi Rosalike,

First of all: Welcome to the Uni and the Forum!!
Now this is tricky, but I'm going to try anyway!
In my experience the black Dually Halter fits most adult horses, unless it's a draft horse.
You state that both your horses wear full size halters, so their size for the Dually should be the same one.
If you watch the lessons on fitting the Dually, you'll see that there are three bands to adjust:
* one over the poll, that changes the length of the halter. With this one you measure the halter in such a way, that the upper noseband is one finger width under the cheekbones.
* one on the upper nose-band, which should be buckled an equal amount of notches as the
* under-chin band. This meaning that the ring that connects horizontal and vertical bands of the halter should be halfway the circumference of the horses cheek, seen from the side.
It might not be so easy to understand from my describtion, but I'm confident that when you watch the Dually fitting lessons a couple of times, you'll find how wonderful their design is.
They last forever, you can wash them, tumble dry them and they're always like new!
Hope this helps!
Miriam

Hello!
Thanks Miriam,
That is really helpful.  I will go for the black and re watch the fitting lesson a few times to get the adjusting down pat.
All the best!

Hi Rosalike
As Miriam says black and blue could both work.

Could you measure the horses head and put the size in here and we can double check the size against a dually.

If you measure around the poll and throatlash as if it was a dually fitting for both horses and post here then we can confirm for you which would suit best. The black might need the larger setting or the blue the smaller setting, as long as you get the poll and throat area size correct the rest can adjust accordingly.
