Foals, imprinting and dually halter work

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed 200 lessons completed

Hi all
.
I just wanted to let u all know that our other mare had her foal on new years day. We have another colt and he is beautiful.
.
This time we were there for the birth and it was amazing to hear the little fellows first breath. I also got the opportunity to imprint this foal. That was amazing to because I was afraid I would not stop and move onto the next part of the body at the right time. I found that I felt the exact time when the foal relaxed indicating when I should move on. So, anyone out there who wants to try this, be reassured that you definately feel the foal relax. Dan and I have followed Monty Roberts' way of imprinting. Dan is taking over the next sessions now as I have gone back to work. This colt is so different to our other little fellow and I assume it's due to the imprinting.
.
The other thing I wanted to update you all on is the progress we are making with Chicka, the colt born in August. He has been weaned and I have joined up with him twice. It is harder to join up with a baby because they are more distractable. My cat Rex didn't help, Chicka was following me and then went after Rex when he decided to come and say hi. I will send you the videos of this Lynn.
.
We have also started working with Chicka using the dually halter and he is picking everything up so fast. We spend 15 minutes with him each day doing something. No more cause he is still a baby.
.
Dan and I are so happy we found the techniques of Monty Roberts. It's amazing how much easier it is to work with foals and grown horses alike.
.
Well that's about all I have to share just now :-)
.
See you later,
.
