Is the Dually halter harmful for necks?

Hello!

I've been studying up on the biomechanics of the horse. One thing that seems pretty universally frowned upon is pulling on a horse's head and neck. Since no gadgets are used with the Dually. The only correction tool we have is the pressure and release system. Does anyone know if the Dually has been tested for horse safety? Also does anyone know how to post on the Q&A section? I can't figure it out.

Hi HorseCraz,
Welcome to the forum and the Uni!
So good to see you're into studying all about the horse, this means to me you have an open mind and seek answers that respect the horse. To my knowledge Monty has taken a lot of time to develope the Dually Halter, so it would be a secure tool. The most important part of any tool are the hands that hold it. This means, that you only use the Dually to give signals to the horse. Of course you could cause serious damage to the horse and to his neck, should you tie it on the training ring, or should you turn out the horse with the Dually Halter and have it get stuck with the training ring. Good horsemanship is always looking for safety, this is number one!
If you have any question you want Monty to answer, there are two ways to post it:

1- write a mail to askmonty@montyroberts.com.

2- post a question here at the forum.

It's always interesting to see what other Uni students write about any question that comes in, not all need Monty's personal attention. Still his daughter Debbie is at the Support, where she monitors whatever comes in and she would without a doubt bring questions that need further help to the attention of either the Certified Instructors or Monty himself. No question remains unanswered...
Give it a try and give the forum a chance to help solve together with you whatever question you have!
We're looking forward to think together and find solutions that help the world to become a better place for horses and people, too.

Hi HorseCraz,
If you do "Monty's Challenge" after each lesson, you can earn rosettes, which show under your profile. Since you didn't have any, I thought you were new to the Uni....
These questions do help to focus on the essentials of each lesson.
Keep the good work going,
Miriam
