My Join-Up® Experience

I got my Haflinger 2 weeks ago and as with all the horses I have owned before, I do join up on our first day. Sonny, by far, has been my best result. It did not take but 5 minutes of round pen work before I got all the signs I was looking for including chewing and licking, head down, and ear turned towards me. It was almost like Sonny was just yearning to become part of a herd. :) I thought because he had joined up so quickly that I would have to do another join up but he follows me everywhere in the round pen. He realizes that the he can trust me and that I will protect him. Today I introduced him to cows and he kept looking at me for support and reassurance that the cows would not suddenly attach and eat him. Within 15 minutes, I had Sonny grazing quietly outside of the cows fenced in pasture. I cannot wait to see how our relationship grows and changes as a result of Monty Roberts videos and the Equus University. I am very glad to be here. Let the learning begin :)
