How has the recent extreme freezing weather affected you & your horses?
How have you managed looking after them?

Hello!

Luckily I'm in aus!!! I hate cold weather and I know my horses would too!

Hello!

Beacuse of the extreme cold in US we have extreme rain here in in europe. My field is a bog. They have a field shelter so and areas where they can stand dry. I feel for those horses in minus temps. Last year we had a long hard freezing winter, I spent hours a day ensuring that they had fresh drinkable water, plenty of hay so they could continue making heat by eating, and of course rugs. Each horse has two rugs, so when one gets too wet i can replace with a dry, but now they have a shelter in the field i have not needed to use a rug yet. Good luck in the USA, I know it is hard work trying to keep them happy.

I'm in the UK too so know how bad the storms have been here, but rain is just wet. Mine have even had rugs on while we've had the non stop storms as the gales push the rain right through the coat so they've had some help, they are off again now though as they are used to living out with a shelter & as they are both sweet itch horses, they have to put up with sweetitch rugs all summer so they are very pleased to have time with out rugs.
minus 50* temps are something else entirely & with people being told to stay indoors because of it, it must have been a nightmare for those suffering!
