Riding Out Alone

Hello!

My horse goes bravely anywhere, almost, if another horse is with her. To ride out alone brings on all kinds of anxiety behaviours (she stops, fidgets, threatens to rear etc.) all in an area where we have ridden with others many times.

Hi!
.
I would advise you to watch the series "Walter won't go forward" and to do a good Join-Up.
Good luck!

I am assuming your horse is only young and has always been taken out with other horses therefore she is stressing out when she is alone. A join up may help but this problem will be difficult to overcome. I would suggest you try leading her out on the dually by herself for a few times to get her used to being away from the other horse and just with you. Then try riding her out short distances where you have previously led her and slowly extend it. Good luck with it - it is so good when they just happily ride off just with you - she does need to be trained out of this.
