Saving lives

I searched and couldn't find a place to "tell Monty" and I'm not naive enough to think he manages this website himself as well as flying all over the world, training etc, but I needed to post it somewhere in the hope that just one person sees it and takes a look at his methods.

I had only had school masters, ridden safe horses, thought I knew more than I did, then my Sam came blasting into my life, everyone told me to have her put down, that she was dangerous, a killer. She had even had her own articles in horse & hound, and on panorama as the mad horse! Of course the fact she was abused, hurt, covered in scars, had learnt to fear humans was to even mentioned, her ability to rear vertically made for far better headlines

We met by accident, the moment I took her lead rope I loved her, we connected, I was ill, I was unlikely to make it, she gave me a reason to fight. Day by day hour by hour we recovered together, the only person who believed this was Monty, his books, his films, gave me hope that I could reach her. 5 years on we are both happy, healthy and have the closest of bonds. This man is a gift to the world, every person he can reach will make this world a better place, he gave me hope that with time, love and patience both Sam and I could find our way, we owe him our lives, when all others didn't believe it didn't matter because Monty showed us we could prove them wrong.

Don't tell one person tell the world xx

Hi Karen: what a wonderful thing to share with us all, thank you. I know Debbie (Monty's daughter) checks these forums often so I'm sure it will not go unnoticed ;-)

I wish you and your mare continued joy and good health.

Hi Karen. What an inspirational story. For you to be able to reach this horse, when you had health concerns of your own - as does Monty I should add, fantastic! Long may your happy partnership continue. Cheers, Jo.

Thank you Karen for sharing this essential message with us!
Healing physical and psycological injuries, whatever nature they may be, is one of the deepest gifts horses and humans can share, if we open up to it... the horses do this naturally.
You touched my heart with your story, please share it wherever you can!
