My Join-Up® Experience

She doesn't come

Please upload your photo
I have a four year old mare that I am training and when I do join up with her she doesn't come into the centre to join up. She shows all of the signs for it and I have watched many videos about join up and succeed with my other horse, but not her.

Hi pony,

It's me again, Miriam!
What your mare shows might be that's she's been lunged quite a lot, and was taught to stay at the circumference of the lungeing-circle. What Join-Up is, means communication with your horse, not training. There is no shortcut building a good relationship with your horse. Start a solid relationship and earn her trust through the exercises this Uni offers you.
May I suggest you watch a lot of the videos on this Uni, also do 'Monty's Challenge' that comes after each lesson, earn a lot of 'rosettes' and step back for a while from training your mare. Time is not important, good horses are!
In your other post you mention the wish to be able to ride her soon, give her time and express herself and give yourself time to learn...
Stay in touch and safe,
Miriam

Can I ask pony, does she trust you already?

Yes she does. I can do lots of liberty with her but its just the join up that she doesn't come.

Hi pony, I've heard Monty answer this question by asking if it's possible to have someone video you during the 'invitation' to Join-Up? There may be some little thing she doesn't or does want from you. It may be your eyes or a flick of the fingers or position of your shoulders. She may be more sensitive than some horses you have succeeded with.

Hello!
Hi Pony,

i have had i young horse that does the same thing so i got someone to film it and then i compared it to Montys and I realized I was doing some things wrong. I also agree with what Miriam said.
