Show Horses/Equestrian Drill Team

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed 200 lessons completed 250 lessons completed 300 lessons completed 350 lessons completed

I would like to see how to train horses to get them ready for small and big shows, and also drill team horses. I have a mare that I'm working with, and I don't really know where to start when it comes to training for shows and an Equestrian Drill Team. . . . But I don't think I can do drill team with her. Just shows.
Thanks!!

Hi. Horse shows are very exciting. Lots of horses & people, noise & activity. The first steps are to get your horse calm with you. Then calm with you in new places. Then add more horses, more people, more new noises, more activity. Go to horse shows but don't compete - take your horse for practice runs. When you compete you get tense. By showing them the environment without the tension you allow them to adapt to the atmosphere. Good luck. Cheers, Jo.

Cool! Thank you so much, that the part where you go to shows, but you don't compete is just what my instructor said when I asked her! Thank you!

Hi. Like Monty says, make it incremental & they will work it out for themselves. Nothing to fear - throw yourself into it. Hey, this is fun not work. Then life becomes one great game. Cheers, Jo.
