Hi, I can share with you some techniques that have worked for me with my horse which has and can still be nervous and spooky. I spend time with my horse without an agenda but simply to be with him. Other times I groom him thoroughly and massage his ears face back and legs. I do desensitizing exercises, and groundwork. These things accumulate to bring about a calmer more relaxed horse in general.

If you are referring to a continuously nervous horse it sounds to me that he is looking for leadership and the comfort and safety that comes with feeling secure. Have you tried Join-Up? That helps a lot! It sure helped my horse.
Let me know how it goes :)

Hi Sylvie, Please tell us more about your horse. What kind of behavior is he showing for you to say he's nervous and under what conditions?

Hi. Horses are syncretic creatures - they react to their fellow mammals around them, human or otherwise. In order to give sensible advise we need more information. When a horse is really nervous it cannot eat as its mouth is too dry. Clearly no horse can be that nervous all the time. It would starve. Please be more specific so we can help you. Cheers, Jo.
