Suggestion for Uni Lesson - Barn and Buddy Sour

Please upload your photo 100 lessons completed
I would love to see a uni lesson on horses that are barn sour and buddy sour. My 18 year old mare does not like to leave her friends at home, and she is in a hurry to return to the barn. What suggestions do you have to help cure these related issues?

Thanks Monty!

Great idea! We will search for a couple of horses we can use as our 'stars' for Monty to demonstrate the lesson with :)

Hello!
I'm still looking for a lesson with buddy sour? This is miserable as I can't ride my horse away from the the other one, and I don't always want to be with someone to ride? Can someone please shed some light on this if there isn't a lesson on it?

Hi vrichardson7,
Since the lesson is not yet on the UNI, there is something else you can do: read Monty's book 'From My Hands To Yours' there's a chapter about barnsore and buddysore horses.
Remember to always stay safe, keeping in mind that your horse thinks his life is at stake, when separated from his buddy.

Hi. Miriam makes an excellent suggestion. I've found From My Hands To Yours invaluable. It's not a read from cover to cover volume. It's a proper text book. Each subject is thoroughly dealt with & the diagrams are clear & easy to follow. But most useful is that, unlike many manuals, it gives reasons why problems occur & why the solutions offered work. This leaves room for expansion of knowledge. If you need to adapt - because you don't have access to a given facility or you need to work alone it's made do-able because Monty doesn't just instruct, he explains - in depth. A very worthwhile, relatively small investment for anyone associated with horses. Cheers. Jo.

@vrichardson7  Monty's textbook is a companion to this online University. For buddy sour, you will find in the book that there needs to be a separation to 'de-bond' https://montyrobertsshop.com/collections/books/products/from-my-hands-to-yours-3rd-edition-by-monty-roberts
