Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed

I have a horse that is the same way, in my small 2 horse straight load she panics when the door closes if the partition is in, i now have the take the partition out she loads in one side and then turns around and rides in the trailer facing the rear. I can load her in stock trailers and in slant load trailers and she is fine. I truely think she is claustrophobic and i dont know if there is anything you can really do to train that out of them.

Monty has an answer that may fit your horses issue

Monty recommends using a stock trailer with no partition and not to tie the horse. I have a trailer that is open like a stock trailer but is a slant load with a partition and since I haul a stallion and a gelding I use the partition for safety reasons. I know my horses are happier in the two horse "stock" trailer than the conventional four horse trailer that we used last year
The difference that I notice is that my two horse trailer is much lighter and brighter inside and horse do not hesitate to loadHope this helps

Cheers

Hello! 100 lessons completed

I have never heard of horses getting hauled in a stock trailer. I wouldn't have thought of it
my self, but now Ill remember is I ever have a horse that does the same. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will see if I can get hold of a stock trailer and give her another try in it.

Hello!

Hey,
I have an old Tb that does the same ever since we changed floats. We just remove the divided and he seems to stand with his feet wide apart. we cant travel him with the divided or another horse because he scrambles I think once then have it in there mind sometime its just easier doing it the way they are least stressed. maybe have you car running and just stand with her by it give her a feed by her lowering her head to eat she is making herself vunverable to preditors she might start to relax once you have done it a couple of time and it important for you to stay clam dont hold her in an special way like she might react just open and shut door while holding her and leave the hood open for her to desensitise to the sound which might help with the traveling problem..
It up to you a a calming natural remedy might help too.

Hope all goes well
